The Ashburton District boasts five challenging country golf courses which cater to all levels of golfers. From the major centres in the Ashburton District all courses can be reached within half an hour.
Ashburton Golf Course
A nationally ranked championship course just off State Highway One north of Ashburton. Well irrigated and an easy walking course. Host to many national tournaments. Green fee players and enquiries from groups always welcome. Resident Pro.

Mayfield Golf Club
Golf course located by the Hinds River. Turn off Inland Scenic Route 72, 3km north of Mayfield. Fairways are watered and well maintained in summer. Course stays dry in winter. Club days Saturday and Tuesday.

Methven Golf Club
Planted with a beautiful selection of evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs making this one of New Zealands finest country courses. Spectacular views of mountains and skifield. Green fee players welcome. Golf clubs, trundlers and cart hire available.
Holes: 18. Par: 71. Length: 5701m (Men) 5197 (Ladies).
Rakaia Golf Club
An 18-hole course, catering to all levels and offering the discerning golfer a challenge. Only 45 minutes from Christchurch.
Holes: 9. Par: 70. Length: 5320m
Tinwald Golf Club
Flat course with great views of snow covered mountains in the winter. Visitors are welcome to join in on club days.
Holes: 18. Par: 72 (Men) 73 (Ladies). Length: 5779m (Men) 5228 (Ladies)
